5c. Arms of Savoy of Italy (Scott #67), tied by four strikes of the
c.d.s. "MALTA/D/OC29/96". On the front is a reddish straight
line "PAQUEBOT". Trivial faults mentioned for the record,
still a striking and appealing maritime cover of great rarity. |

#2. JB #2. Michel #1. One half penny brown orange on white paper,
tied by "C MALTA JY 11 62" duplex cancellation to a Very Fine
official letter addressed the Office of Primary Education at Valletta.
Rare cover of the earliest issues of Malta. Certificate by H.C.Schwenn
(Frankfurt am Main). We have been able to determine that most or all
other covers bearing this postage stamp have age stains, or tropical
stains. This example is probably the finest in existence, in that the
cover is in superb state of preservation, without any stains whatsoever.
