H0199 ¤ Scott #19. Sassone Provincie Napoletane #17. One half Tornese green affixed to a newspaper sent from Naples to Cosenza on October 8th of 1861. The newspaper is L'OMNIBUS GIORNALE POLITICO-LETTERARIO, is complete and in fine state of preservation. The stamp has complete margins, well clear of the framelines on all sides, and is in perfect condition. It is tied by the circular datestamp "NAPOLI 8 OTT 61 4 S". Alongside is the arrival postmark of Cosenza of October 10th. Sassone Catalogue value for this item is 750.00 Euro, or about US$ 1110.00. Contains an open letter from Giuseppe Garibaldi, and much other interesting information from all over Europe. Accompanied by a Sismondo certificate of authenticity. (Our inventory H0199). 550.00

It is, however, significantly damaged and repaired. It is accompanied by a certificate by Fiecchi which attests to the authenticity of the stamp and the cancellation, but of course, not to the condition.
